When you are done making your model you can use the render function in TS to create unit icon and wire images for it but its quite easily done by selecting the render to file option-addon-tga-32x32 or 128x128-32 bit. If the odf doesn't have these entries add them-

unitIcon = "icon_ivbx.tga"
UnitStatus = "wire_ivbx.tga"

Change the unit name to your models name in the odf. FYI: I changed the wire from hidden line to high render and the result shows the wire image as a full color thumbnail of the model itself; same deal with the icon image. Apparently, 32 bit tga supports the alpha channel so BZII displays the icon and wire images minus the original background color. I used to have to drag the images into Gimp to erase the background color; just more work!

Of course you'll need to convert the tgas to Bz2dxt for public beta beyond 1.3.5.1; yet more work for the modder! ~x(
