My 2nd map I've ever made in 5-6 years of bz2 life. My first map sucked ass, I didnt even release that crap.

ZST Alien Planet
Special map feature: It contains special scrap that I call "Alien Scrap". Alien Scrap is worth 10 loose per each you pick up. Alien Scrap will appear on the map for 45 seconds, with this 45 second window of opportunity you better have a scavenger there to collect it because the next time it will re-spawn or reappear is within another 8 minutes.

The beta link for this map follows below:

interesting idea, I wonder how it'll resolve. Is the alien scrap @ mid?

I've downloaded it, will check it out when I have time :) I remember testing your 1st map, together with Bones. That was fun :-D You still use strange textures I see

I did a quick test of your map and here are my observations:

1) The base area, looks cramped and almost unusable. No big deal, I tried setting up a base anyways. It works, but you have to build it in a rectangular shape which gives you a lot less flexibility when placing buildings. At least try making it one square larger so that its a little more square and theres more room to build things. I do like the idea of a somewhat small base area since there are a lot of ways you can exploit blind spots.

2) The sky and ground texture. The ground texture looks pretty cool, I like how the halftone/dotting effect you have there makes it look more detailed. It looks really strange in the sky though, ie: like the clouds are made out of cloth or something.

3) Size. It seems to be a nice size, with lots of hills and such to make for some good dogfighting possibilities.

4) Pool placement. The pools are conveniently placed, not too far away and not too linked to each other. I have a feeling that the map is going to have some decent pool wars.

I will post more observations later. I could post some tips on how to make your map look better, but i'll save those until its almost ready to be released.

Thanks for your comments Zero

I cant help it for the sky texture, I just like strange and unusual textures. I guess thats why I called it "alien". But I understand what you mean abiout how the sky looks like cloth, I can adjust it so that it does not look like cloth, but I'll see what I can do about that.

As far as the base space is concerned, I wanted it to be cramped like the way Mars map was, but I will make another updated map with one more square size equal to the Recycler's size. Lets see how it would be with one more square.

Alright thanks.

I'll post link later

I tested this. I love the base area. :-D You should keep it. Enough space for lots of powers, but vulnerable to bomber. Easily hoverable and yet easily defend able. only 2 entrances, and scavs get stuck sometimes when you try to set the far mid pools. I like how it calls for good placement of turrets and buildings.

Other than that, read the other posts :)
