I've been using MSI Afterburner lately and I must say it is a must have, free utility that works with both AMD and Nvidia video cards!

I initially started using it to overclock my Radeon HD4850 1GB DDR3 video card to gain extra performance in Planetside 2 Beta. I was previously using CCC (ATI's Catalyst Control Cener) to overclock, but found Afterburner to be more reliable to get my card at (700Mhz core 1190Mhz vid ram --- stock 625Mhz 950Mhz).

I then noticed it has a video capture feature which works a lot like Fraps, but way better!! It has to be enabled in settings and a hotkey assigned. Video quality is as good if not better, records sound, screenshots and also can compress the video while recording. Best of all it is FREE and doesn't distort your video with a splashlink!

Tons of features:
Overclocking
Monitoring
Benchmarking
Fan Control
Video or Screen Capture

Thank you MSI for releasing such a great utility!! =D>

1st test recording of Planetside 2 using FREE MSI Afterburner to capture the video
(I then used FREE Virtualdub w/ xvid to compress the 25GB original file to 500MB).
Using compression while recording dramatically decreased performance I notice, so I set Afterburner to record uncompressed.

test 2 (air combat) -- notice the stutter created from recording and compressing at same time. Record without compression for best results.

I like that shield that the whole base is engulfed in.

Attacking armies have to destroy surrounding shield generators to get in. This game is huge!! Each of the 3 'continents' are about 60 square kilometers. Hundreds and hundreds of dif bases and control points, 3 unique factions (races), a built in 'resource' system for armor, air and infantry items. thousands of players. Battles that have literally hundreds of people & vehicles. Weather is constantly shifting from day into night with realistic effects. It's pretty amazing thus far. Bugs are getting squashed and it seems it will be ready for the set Nov 20th launch. Need a semi powerful system to run though.

Cool looking game, gives me the impression it needs a lot of work, but I'll be keeping an eye open :)

Looks good, but why do your recordings look partially zoomed in and shaky? I know it's a digital effect, I just wonder why you have it like that.

Oh man, dual 680s? You easily have enough juice to run a triple screen setup.

Not sure why that 1st vid came out like that actually. Youtube Video Manager did ask (and I allowed) to auto-correct the tank vid in particular and wonder if it has something to do with that? The second vid doesn't zoom I notice, just jittery from the compression while recording.

Ah you know it's probably the same kind of anti-shake technique that camcorders use. It zooms in the frame somewhat and tries to detect if it thinks that the camera is shaking due to being hand-held and then pans the frame to try and keep the image steady. It looks kind of cool, like an actual 3D HUD, but doesnt really allow the viewer to see the edges of the HUD to get a good picture about what's going on.
