Right now I am playing some Yamagi sourceport Quake 2 with mission packs and I must tell this game is a hell of a shooter. Wondering what it is that makes it such a satisfying experience in that regard. The game has very decent sounds giving a proper impression of gunnery power when shooting, good d...

Actually, there aren't. The four types of power plants (solar, wind, lightning) are functionally exactly the same. The only differences between them are in their size and health. Multiplayer recyclers always use the solar power plants, unless you're playing a modded MPI map where the developer has ...

Good news, ran Battlezone 1.5 patch with Windows XP SP 3 setup accordance and as an administrator exclusively, resulting in animations work fine. The minor things I would call a nuisance is the temporal flickering of the screen right after loading and on some occasions during the game, primarily in ...

Another case with 1.5 patch Battlezone, the HUD is stuck in one size, meaning in more modern screen resolutions it is just too small.

Another more technical case I noticed, when as a pilot on foot, the screen flickers if direction of marching is sudennly changed to reverse.

With Battlezone classic patch 1.5 everything works fine, including lack of demand for a CD in, but the game lacks the animations. Perhaps it is some problem caused by the Indeo softwere. At first I skipped installing it, then decided to reinstall the game with the inclusion of it, but still the resu...

BZ2 doesn't change its physics from planet-to-planet; doing so in a game in 1999 would have required an awful lot of work

Though there are dedicated powerplants to certain types of planets or moons in the classic Battlezone.

Hard day this day but fortunately fruitful. I have been trying to get to run some uberclassic games on my Windows 10 computer. Homeworld , Homeworld 2 , Quake 2 , Quake 4 , Battlezone . Quake 4 ran with least trouble after downloading and installing some official patch. Apparently there are still so...

There is difference between fantasy and science-fiction, but yes, BZ2 is rather on the fantasy flavour of science-fiction, meaning more Star Wars than for example the original from 1998. But again, who knows how the future will look like? On the other hand, to keep the convention we must stick to so...

Beated the last ISDF mission, the almost suicide commando. Liked it, reminded me a lot of Descent game. I also liked how the game transparently announced there is a parallel storyline, as well as how to comfortably access it without even have to replay the stage where the alternative decision was to...

On the 98 Redux forum one guy came up with something like this - it is based on 3D printing: Image 1 Image 2 Future of Battlezone , a tabletop game. Maybe the prices will be more sane than those of Warhammer 40 000 . When the computers are dead. But beyond all, a nice idea to have a private use go f...

Proper aircraft employment would change the image of the game. But the question remains, how do aircrafts work on every planet, with conditions diametrally different from those Earthlike? The rockets seem to work anyway.

Nice, seems like a more compact one, unless it is especially long, which is unlikely taking this would compromise the aerodynamicism and endurance of the craft.
