What pissess me off in the old Doom is that on Nightmare difficulty the enemies just randomly spawn, forcing one to speedrun. Good if someone wants to make a speedrun, bad if searching just for an increased steady difficulty. Guess Ultra-Violence is the highest common to go. Anyway, classic Doom fai...

Ha! So I can play Doom without buying it. Now need to check whether MODDB contents for Ultimate Doom agree with Doom1.WAD.

Unfortunately, "GZ-Doom" says the shareware version files are uncombinable with further contents. Pity! Still good.

"GZ-Doom 3.0" sourceport just came out. I learned it works with shareware IWAD files of Doom , Heretic , Hexen and couple other games fanmade just for that sourceport. Ha! So I can play Doom without buying it. Now need to check whether MODDB contents for Ultimate Doom agree with Doom1.WAD ...

Compared to Quake 4, Doom 3 mechanically seems to me a better play, even just due to the running option available.

After beating the NSDF campaign, the game recommends to establish a "PlayScion" profile to gain access to Scion missions, as if having chosen the alternative ending in Burns wreckage capture stage. Does it work as a universal cheat, if I just set up a "PlayScion" profile, should ...

Couple years back I had had a Final Doom original CD, but I have trashed it along with some other stuff I considered useless. This is basically how captivated with Doom I am. Brutal Doom reminds me more of Duke Nukem 3D enhanced with modern maneuvers, thus if I give it a better try, it will probably...

Just checked out Fallout 2 MODDB site. Wow, there are some impressive mods, few but promising total conversions. Will have to check them out once I have an occasion. Hope they do the justice.

The list would be much shorter if you suggested features of Brutal Doom that you felt were unique. That's not to say that Doom took no inspiration from Brutal Doom... but the features of the new Doom that are visible in Brutal Doom are mostly ones that were originally intended for the original Doom...

Similar ideas does not mean copied ideas. Do you suppose that SgtMarkIV's ideas were original, or would it be more accurate to say that he was inspired by the design decisions made by more modern games? Is it not more likely that, as a modern game, the new Doom was simply following those same trend...

I would suggest looking at Doom64 EX instead, which is a direct port. Brutal Doom 64 and the Absolution TC have to use different versions of the Doom 64 levels for legal reasons; Doom64 EX works around that and is perfectly accurate to the N64 game. Accuracy plays little role as long as the gamepla...

Save for couple of prominent titles in the gaming world, multiplayer in general seems pretty much vegetating compared to what we would want.
