I need you to unfold the thought.
User avatar

One cannot logically explore an idea that is built on an illogical premise. That's like trying to build a house out of sand.
User avatar
Darkon - Wed Mar 22, 2017 11:45 pm
For now I see only you further obscure the unclear.
User avatar
Darkon - Wed Mar 22, 2017 11:46 pm
I would like you to positively state your belief about the universe and human capabilities regarding it so that we can eventually discuss it.
User avatar
Darkon - Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:38 am
Speaking of beliefs.
User avatar
Ded10c - Thu Mar 23, 2017 3:55 am
I do not hold "belief" as such; I trust in that which can be proven and extrapolated from the proven. Anything else is not worth my time. Where religion is concerned, that means hard agnosticism/igtheism. Where philosophy is concerned, that means existential nihilism/cosmicism.
User avatar
Darkon - Thu Mar 23, 2017 6:06 am
That means you believe universe is solid and your experience true in all regards.
User avatar
Ded10c - Thu Mar 23, 2017 8:20 am
No. The kind of belief to which you refer - "faith", more accurately - flies in the face of evidence.
User avatar
Darkon - Thu Mar 23, 2017 11:03 am
Belief is to express acknowledgment without actual evidence. For example, superstring theory physicists express belief that their theory is correct - basing on certain assumptions and foundations they hold valid - but it is something else to say they have faith in the superstring theory. To have faith in superstring theory implies the theory will succeed by the innate power it has, as if defending itself. To have belief in the string theory may imply what the physicists will do regarding the theory, will bring benefit.

The truth you speak about relies on senses. The image of the world your mind shapes for itself is rooted in the medium of senses. Therefore, you have belief in your mind that the image of the world your mind holds is valid, at least as far as your senses tell. To conclude, you believe in your senses, because they bring the world you value.

In the end, it is only in your mind this world exists, for ultimately what the senses do meet and report is unknowable, as any interpreation dwells in the isolated chamber of your mind taking all as data. The world is in your mind and what is beyond your mind is directly unrecognizable. Your cognition of the world is mediated. You can only believe what you meet through your senses is the same beyond your senses, but as you are perfectly aware, senses can be manipulated. Do you know who came up with this theorem in Europe?

Well, actually it seems as believing the senses through the mind by the way of acknowledging the sensual experience as ultimate definiton of reality. Remember how did we define reality - what is beyond the magic circle of intimate self or creation.

Ded10c - Thu Mar 23, 2017 2:53 pm
I think you misunderstand the use of the word "theory" in science. A hypothesis is a suggested explanation; a theory is tested and substantiated. We "believe" theories the same way we "believe" that the sky is blue and that water is wet. To believe a theory is to follow the available evidence. Yes, there's always the possibility that the evidence is misleading or outright wrong, but it makes a damn sight more sense to follow evidence than it does to believe something that's not substantiated at all.

Ded10c - Thu Mar 23, 2017 2:54 pm
The definition of reality relative to the magic circle was in an entirely different context, so it won't fly here. I'd suggest looking up the ludological concept of the magic circle if you want to see where I was going with that.

I consider this discussion over, anticipating little constructive contents to be submitted ahead.

I am skeptical of the claim that voluntarily pedophilia harms children. The arguments that it causes harm seem to be based on cases which aren't voluntary, which are then stretched by parents who are horrified by the idea that their little baby is maturing.
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:08 am
I see you are thinking a lot about pedophilia. Personally, I am rather concerned about prison rape.
def4332221 - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:23 am
how come? did you have bad experiences with prison rape?
def4332221 - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:23 am
voluntary prison 'rape' is fine in my opinion
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:41 am
This is just such an interesting social occurence. For example, what does "voluntary" mean in prison?
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:41 am
In abnormal conditions, what kind of action would you call normal other than conformity?
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:42 am
Besides, if a person enters prison and undergoes experiences that make this person claim to be a woman, is this identity genuine also after getting released, when the conditions have changed or is one social environment more impacting than the other/?
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:43 am
by "this person" I mean a man, otherwise the example is half failing.
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:44 am
What conditions is human being more prone to when it comes to definition of one self?
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:44 am
I believe prison is a little microcosm portraying the entire society in an ill mirror of a sort, perhaps even including the transcendental.
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:47 am
What is "sex" other than a role? Perhaps some kinds of character types better suit certain sexual roles than biology would destine them to. Gender stuff has a lot to say here.

Homosexuality and pedophilia are deeply intertwined.
User avatar
Darkon - Fri Mar 24, 2017 12:25 pm
Can you decrypt that and shed some light on what makes you express such opinion?
def4332221 - Fri Mar 24, 2017 2:20 pm
